That might be interesting, I'm not really a competitive player though, I'd be down as long as its still friendly.

The good things about leagues and matches is that rules are strict when it comes to communication amongst both teams. Usually it is an MM2 situation (MM2 = Message Mode 2 = BE QUIET! Only your team captains should be communicating with the other team). If at any time the other team is rude to you, using profain language etc.. You can dispute and that team will get disqualified and sometimes kicked out of the league.

Scrims on the other hand, are different. You'll find a decent team but, the rest are just there to play and talk as much crap as they can.

All scrims and matches are meant to be friendly. Competitive but, friendly however, in the world of CS:S and competition..friendly is sometimes not the case!

It is alot of fun though and you will enjoy yourself. I love the idea of teamwork and that is what turned me into a competitive CS:S player.

TWL might be perfect for you guys. Just know that you'll need to be somewhat dedicated to it and won't be able to take it as just some regular old game of CS:S. If you go into the league without some type of competitive in you, you will be greatly dissapointed..so much so that you will end up not caring about it anymore..and probably will forget about leagues haha.

If you really want to get competitive down the road..and improve your CS:S skill I would suggest Cevo or ESEA.
Those are probably the only two leagues that matter nowadays.

As always, scrimming and par taking in matches is alot of fun.  mean ALOT of fun. You learn to play the game that not everyone knows about...and overall increases your skill level within the game.

There are two halfs to a match/scrim.  Of course, you start in pistol round ($800). The first half, once the total score of both teams is 15, you switch. 2nd half, first team to 15 wins..if it is a tie, you go into OverTime(OT)  which will be game point.
(To clarify the first half, if the Terrorist have 10 and the CT have 5, it is time to switch sides. If the Terrorist have  9 and the CTs have 6, it is time to switch sides.) after the switch is when first to 15 wins. Of course, your score is carried over from the first half into the 2nd.)

The first round in most leagues is called "Pistol round".
It is probably the most important round during a match as it will be a deciding factor for your teams cash flow & weapon arsenal for the next few rounds. If you win pistol round, you have an advantage over the other team.

I was looking over the achievements and I did not see one that referred to pistol round. Am I over looking it? I only saw 7 achievements 6 being an achievement for each individual pistol and then the 7th being an achievement for unlocking all 6 other individual pistol achievements.

I don't think this is true, my stats show I have only won 13 pistol rounds. I know I have won more than that in opening rounds.

As for the description of a pistol round, that is 100% true

Finally found the pistol round achievements under 'Special Achievements'.

Piece Initiative
Win 5 Pistol Rounds

Give Piece a Chance
Win 25 Pistol Rounds

I don't think it tells you how many pistol rounds you have won but, I may be over looking that as well. If you did unlock said achievement though, it will say "Unlocked [date here]"

The part of there only being 7 pistol achievements is also true excluding the pistol round achievements. There are 6 pistols in the game and 1 achievement per pistol which is, 6 pistol specific achievements and then the 7th is the achievement acknowledging that you have unlocked all of the pistol specific achievements. Those are separate from the pistol round achievements.

Don't you guys have HLStats for the servers? Those would be far more detailed than built in stats.

edit: just noticed it is for TF2

My stats:

Kill to Death Ratio
1.863

Achievements:
89/145

Stars Earned:
3,262

I think those are the only ones that matter. I like the new achievement system because it can tell you how well you're doing. If you're improving or slacking, what weapons you're best with and what you need to work on etc.
I doubt I will get all of the actual achievements though. All of mine aren't earned by playing in a local server and I'll probably keep it that way.
It would be cool if you got a "surprise" if you gain all of the achievements though Very Happy.

I only have about 88/144 achievements.
I very rarely get a new achievement now considering I tend to play one specific gametype and only a handful of maps haha.

Another thing I see is that when the round ends and a new one starts, being an engie, any buildings you built will be destroyed, right? Well, when this happens, HLstats seems to count it as you destroying your own buildings (as from pda2) and subtracts your points.

Is this intentional? I have no idea, but it's pretty annoying.

I don't have TF2 but, the issue you're speaking of would be (I'm 98% sure)  an issue on HLstats side.
Try going to their forums and requesting info about it.
Otherwise, if HLstats and the way it records the stats can be manually configured on BBG side, then there is a chance BBT can fix it Smile.

Having FF on will help people learn to not shoot  their team mates (assuming said player is punished for team killing)
FF On sucks sometimes because some players like to jump directly in front of you..and have no common courtesy to get out of your way..which can lead to them being killed...them getting mad about it...and you dying due to the ignorance of your team.

My vote (if it counts haha) is Yes & No lol.
(If its turned on, maybe install the plugin so that if you're team killed by someone..a menu pops up with options on how to punish the player that killed you)

VAC3 is being silently streamed on VAC protected servers. VAC2 is still loaded and is also running.
VAC3 will be just as bad as VAC2 according to reliable sources. The only difference is, VAC3 is a bit more secure and uses different methods.

Nice try though VALVe :)

Just giving you guys some..knowledge lol.

The auto disconnect is due to loss packets and data between your PC and said server. It is almost always on the clients end.

Well, an update to this since I first brought the idea up:

MANY familiar faces as in the "veteran" players of this community have returned due to me sending out Mass emails across three separate forums.  In fact, we're up to 20 members now which consist of some of the best players within the community.

Everybody is on board with what we're doing. So much so, another clan has just returned as well.

I went from only seeing 2 members online and 0 guests and now we have:

8 Staff Members, 13 Members, 42 Guests.

Just 4 days ago I only had 1 other member with me :)

everything is PERFECT !

PostForum: Counter Strike Source Posted: Mon Nov 29, 2010 6:35 am Subject: Re: Server formats
D2 is the most favored map in the game alongside office as well.
There is a large percentage of players that will not leave the server due to it being on D2 or another highly favored map. Sure, there are a couple but, the rest of them will play it until they get tired.

You can use "Server hop" (Probably not the right name). This will inform players that they can type "!servers" and get a quick list of other BBG servers. With a press of a button they can be automatically directed to another server.
The RTV+Nominate system is hard to abuse as it requires a percentage of the server (Which can be set by the admin-not in game) in order for the vote to even be passed.
Out of each map picked by a player, the little box will pop up with a number to each map chosen, the map with highest votes wins.

There are a couple that will not allow players to RTV+Nominate while an admin is present however, when the admin is no longer around, RTV+Nominate will enable.

If you want to attract players, D2 is your best bet. Players will play on this map for hours on end. One point someone did mention is the bots thing. Alot of players will enter a server & see bots then immediately leave. It is best to kick the bots as players come in. Kick 1 bot every time a new player joins and that will help eliminate players quitting.

Another idea:
If you haven't already (although I think you guys have) create a Steam group.
Make it public so that everybody can join and start sending out invites to that group. Start with sending invites to your friendslist. Even send an invite to every single one of them.
See new players in your server? Invite them.  Once you have a good number of people in that group, you're able to create announcement such as:
Server changes
New servers
BBG news/Updates etc

It will pop up to everyone in the group just as it pops up when someone enters a game or comes online. Best way to advertise the servers and clan. Include the server IPs on the group homepage as well. The more people you get to join the group, the more that will join your server.
If you guys do have a  Steam group then chances are I am probably in it and if it is public I will invite everyone on my list to join and majority of them will join it for the heck of it and simply because I invited 'em haha.

Like I said, once you have a good amount of people within your Steam group start making regular announcements such as:
"Join the server! It's fun time!"
"Party in BBG SERVER!
"Party on D2!!!"

People will come Smile
